When should you see your gynecologist?

Not only during pregnancy or when there's pain here are the key signals for a routine, preventive visit.

When should you see your gynecologist?
A visit to your gynecologist isn't limited to pregnancy or new symptoms. An annual check-up after age 21 (or once sexually active) is a core part of preventive care and includes a pelvic exam, a Pap smear when indicated, and a breast exam. Additional visits are warranted if you notice changes in your cycle, unusual pelvic pain, abnormal discharge, or if you're planning to conceive. After age 40, expanded screenings ultrasound, mammogram, hormonal evaluation become increasingly important. Don't wait for something to worry about: routine screening is one of the best investments you can make in your own health.
